UPDATE
Please do not suggest your own photos as favourites to the club - SUBMIT them the usual way (if a bug prevents you from doing so, please wait until it's fixed and try again an hour later). So, the poll results are pretty clear - over 70% of you would like to see a more selective approach in accepting photos to our gallery. Most commenters said they'd welcome a restriction on the number of submitted photos so here's what we came up with:
Once more: Do NOT send us any notes, please. We cannot see thumbs anymore. Instead use the
direct submission system. You can either submit photos already in your gallery or when submitting a new photo altogether add it as a submission to this club in one go.
If you don't know how to do it, take a look at the following tutorial by *

[link] Remember to check if your portrait meets the
club's criteria:

All subjects must be human.

The subject must be the main focus of the image.

The image must show at least 1/4 of the face and at least one eye. The eye may be open or closed.

The face most be in focus. Soft focus is fine; a blurred face will not be considered a portrait.

Submissions may be photographs, drawings, paintings or digital art.

Artistic nude is accepted. Please note the use of the word 'artistic'. This is up to our discretion, and our word is final. Decisions are not debatable; however you may ask why your photo was rejected, of course.

Images that have been retouched are fine; however photographic manipulations will be declined as there are many other wonderful clubs more suited for this art genre.
You can now submit up to TWO photos per week We've implemented this rule to prevent any more flooding of members' galleries. I guess most people who are in more than one active groups have experienced that feeling of being swamped (I know I did ^^).

From now on we will be a bit
more selective concerning the quality of submitted photos. We assure you that we do not intend to give this club an elitist direction but we think it's only fair to decline obviously lower quality photos, which include so-called "myspace"-portraits and works/themes that are already over-represented in the gallery (should that situation ever occur). We promise not to favour what fits our personal tastes but be as objective as possible.
Apart from that there are still a few bugs within the group system. Please be patient while dA irons out these glitches (the ones concerning submissions, in particular).
And then there's one other thing I'd like to tell you!
Over the past few days we've been thinking about ways to use the full potential of group features and the new motivation the group system brought to the community. We want to get you guys inspired to create new art and maybe even become a bit more ambitious. So we are currently planning mini-contests for every second week (or so) where you will be able to submit your portraits to a certain theme. Every portrait will be accepted to the gallery, but we'll also collect the top three (or so) and publish them in a news article.
You see, it still needs some planning to do but we're working on it. We hope to introduce this new little feature around New Year.
So stay tuned and feel free to add your own suggestions - don't hesitate to let us know how you feel about the club and our plans. We absolutely appreciate active members

Thanks,
Lydia
